About This Menopause Qualification
This menopause course will provide you with a foundational understanding of the menopause and menopause symptoms that affect women during this stage in their life.
The introduction to menopause course consists of one module: The fundamentals of menopause and the implications for health and wellbeing.
To complete the course you’ll have access to a learner booklet and elearning platform. In order to pass this module, you will need to complete a 10-minute presentation and 20 minute discussion with your assessor on the topic. Some of the topics in the assessments include:
- Prevalence and diversity of individuals transitioning through menopause.
- Stages, signs and symptoms of menopause.
- Life stages of girls and women’s bodies.
- Different types of menopause.

What You’ll Learn
- How to engage in initial conversations regarding the menopause.
- When and how to signpost individuals to mainstream or medical alternative support organisations.
- The fundamentals of menopause and the implications for health and wellbeing.
- Different stages of the menopause
- Signs and symptoms of the menopause.
- How exercise, physical activity and nutrition can support health and wellbeing.
- Diversity of individuals who experience the menopause.
- The importance of understanding scope of practice.
Total qualification time: 18 hours

Course Prerequisites
If you want to sign up to an Introduction To The Menopause, there are no prerequisites.
However, it is essential that you have an interest in learning more about the menopause and learners must be 16 or over.

YMCA Level 3 Menopause Practitioner Online Course
About This Menopause Qualification
The menopause practitioner course features the same information as the introduction to the menopause course, with three additional modules to expand your knowledge on the menstrual cycle. It will equip you with the tools and information to safely create exercise sessions tailored to help clients improve their wellbeing throughout menopause.
This menopause course consists of three mandatory modules: The fundamentals of menopause and the implications for health and wellbeing, The effect of declining hormones on health and wellbeing for individuals transitioning through the menopause and Programming and adapting exercise to support management of menopause and menopause symptoms.
You also have the option to complete an optional module: Delivering exercise to support the management of menopause and menopause symptoms. Once you have completed this final module and passed the course, you will be a qualified menopause practitioner.
The assessment methods include presentations, discussions, a case study and planning and delivering an exercise session for a ‘real client’.

- Understand the stages of the menopause and effects of declining hormones and the risk to health.
- Impact of oestrogen on mental and physical health.
- Pelvic floor and urinary health.
Total qualification time: 99-115 hours
