Online Study & Face to Face Expert Sports Massage Course Workshops
Our Sports massage qualification is a blended course, combining online learning with practical training and assessment days. This gives students the flexibility to complete most of their learning online, at a time and location that suits them, as well as gaining hands-on experience during the practical days.
Online Study
With the online study, you will have access to our learning platform which includes the following:

Practical Workshops
There are six practical training days that you need to complete for the course. These are divided into two sets of three full days. On the practical days you will go through:
- Practical anatomy and physiology
- Full body massage techniques
- Postural alignment
- Practical assessments
During the sports massage course practical assessment you will deliver a pre-event, post-event and maintenance sports massage. Within the maintenance massage you will also conduct a full consultation and postural assessment.

Sports Massage Practical Days
Alongside the online learning resources, you will also be required to attend six in-person workshops. These will be two blocks of three full days sessions in one of our facilities across the UK with an expert tutor. Here is a breakdown of the practical sessions:
Day 1: Meet and greet, followed by subjective and objective assessments, including posture, alignment, musculoskeletal anatomy, and joint actions. Introduction to sports massage basics such as client positioning, towel use, and massage mediums. Overview of Level 3 SMT techniques (effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, and basic kneading frictions). Practical hands-on massage techniques for the lower limbs.
Day 2: Objective assessments covering active, passive, and resisted ranges of motion for all joints. Understanding how to differentiate dysfunctions from injuries. Practical hands-on massage techniques for the hips and back.
Day 3: Briefing on assessment criteria and the differences between pre-event, post-event, and maintenance massage techniques. Practical hands-on massage techniques for the quadriceps.
Day 4: Recap of posture, alignment, and range of motion, including correct recording methods for the client record card. Practical hands-on massage techniques for the neck, pectorals, deltoids, arms, and forearms (with the client lying supine on the massage bed).
Day 5: Depending on group size, this may be the first day of practical assessments, with a maximum of four learners assessed per day (approximately 90 minutes per learner).
Day 6: Second day of practical assessments.
